Code 93 Barcode Font Symbology Information:
The Code 93 barcode was designed to provide a barcode with higher
density and higher security than the Code 39 barcode. Although code 93 is
a higher density barcode, it requires two checksums to be calculated and
can be very difficult to use for non-programmers. If you are not a programmer and you
need an easy to use barcode, consider our Code
3 of 9 barcode font which does not require checksums to be
calculated or our
Barcode Label Software or our Barcode Components.
We currently provide the Microsoft Office
VBA (Visual Basic) Source Code for Excel and Access that is free to use with our fonts.
This VBA automatically formats the start, stop and check characters to the barcode
fonts and it can be used as a guide for conversion to other languages. Therefore, manual check digit calculations are usually not necessary.
We also provide the functions for Code 93 in our ActiveX DLL
for Windows and in this Crystal UFL for Crystal Reports.
The symbology of the Code 93 character
set consists of bar code symbols representing characters 0-9, A-Z, the
space character and the following symbols: /, + , %, - , . , $ .
All letters must be entered in uppercase to print the barcode from our
font. It is also
important to note that when the Code 93 barcode font is selected, the space
character will not produce a barcode but a space. To print the barcode
symbol representing a space you will need to type or print "="
(the equal character) instead of a space character.
Code 93 Barcode Font Package Features:
- The Code 93 barcode fonts are scaleable and should be printed at the correct font size to suit your application and scanning equipment.
The code 93 barcode font was designed to be printed at a minimum font size
of 12 points, however, you can print smaller point sizes if your printer
and scanning equipment support it. Five (5) versions of the Code 93 barcode fonts are provided to support different width and height requirements. The last character in the Code 93 barcode font
name determines the height of the barcode with the shortest being
IDAutomationC93XS and the tallest being IDAutomationC93XL. To determine which Code 93 barcode font to use, first print out the
IDAutomationC93S barcode font at various font sizes to determine which size is the smallest that will work with your scanning equipment. Then, choose the tallest version that will fit in your scanning area. The following is sample code from Visual Basic that selects the Code 93 bar code font and size.
Printer.FontName =
"IDAutomationC93S"
Printer.CurrentX = 1250
Printer.CurrentY = 4500
Printer.FontSize = 12
Printer.Print variable
- If your scanning equipment supports it, the full 128 character ASCII
character set can be printed. This may also
be encoded in the Code 93 barcode font using combinations of symbol
characters. For more information on this
feature refer to our data
sheet.
