OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Font Advantage Package allows you to print according to OCR-A, OCR-B, USPS Mail, OCR-B1 Eurobanking and OCR-A1 Eurobanking specifications from any computer system supporting TrueType, PCL or PostScript fonts to any graphics capable printer. Our flexible License Agreement allows you to create your own custom OCR application or integrate this functionality into your existing application.


OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Font Advantage Package Features

Created from ANSI Specs - The OCR-A and OCR-B fonts are special fonts that are used for optical character recognition systems. The OCR-A and OCR-B character sets contain upper case and lower case letters, numbers, and several special characters. The OCR-A font characters were created from ANSI X3.17-1981 specifications and the OCR-B font characters were created from ANSI X3.49-1982 specifications.

Special Symbols - are provided for purposes such as international character support. To see locations for these symbols, open the OCR-A font in Windows and go to the "Character Map" application.

ANSI Size 1 and 4 - when printing the OCR-A font with the size of 12, this font conforms to ANSI specification size 4 which is an approximate character height of 3.8mm and a character width of 2mm. The OCR-A font should be printed at 9 points for OCR-A size 1 and 3 which is 10 CPI.

USPS Mail - our OCR-A font at 9 points is being used to print OCR readable mail in the US.

Norwegian Bank Checks - when printing the OCR-B font with the size of 14, this font conforms to ANSI specification size 1. The OCR-B font at 14 points has been accepted by BBS (Norwegian banks payment centre) for use on bank checks in Norway.

OCR A1 EUROBANKING and German Bank Checks - in this package we also include a special font named "a1eurobanking". This is an OCR-A size 1 font with special symbols for the bank cheques such as Chair and Fork which are placed at character locations "a" and "b". This font (cheque schriften) is also being used to print German bank checks and includes the proper symbols for printing these checks.

OCR B1 EUROBANKING - our OCR-B font at size 1 and supports the character set of the OCR-B1 Eurobanking standard. This standard includes the numbers 0 - 9, some uppercase letters and a range of special characters (< > + - / # * | . , "). Our OCR B font meets the specifications for the ECMA-11 norm and can be used on accept giro forms.

Full Embedding Support - the embedding support of our fonts enables them to be encoded / embedded in special PDF document applications such as Adobe Writer, Distiller, PDF Lib and FOP TTF Reader. This level of embedding also supports creation of OpenType and TrueDoc fonts for webpages.
