In standard cryptosystem you need to perform many steps to work with a encrypted document: run cryptoprogram, enter path of file and password, wait while file will be decrypted, open it manually with editing program (ex. MS Word), work with it, run cryptoprogram again, show it edited file, encrypt it back and delete decrypted copy with some utility like WipeInfo. In NLC you won't have such problems - NCFP format allows you just double-click at encrypted file, enter the key - and that's all! NLC will automatically decrypt file, open it with editor, save your changes and securely delete any presence of decrypted copy in the memory and hard drive - so you can work with protected document like with common document - but nobody will be able to open it without your password.
