Easy of Use
With an interface similar to a word processor, anyone can pick up River Past Talkative and use it right away.

Often, text to speech software is a dialog with a small text area. In River Past Talkative, the text editing area is large and resizable, and the buttons are obvious and readily accessible.

You even get all the features to edit RTF files, with options to set font, size, bold, italic, underline, and paragraph alignment.

Output Flexibility
Most text-to-speech software allows you to export to WAV files. Few support MP3 files. River Past Talkative not only writes to WAV and MP3, but also WMA and audio-only AVI.

Export to WMA for internet streaming, or upload to your portable audio player.

Export to audio-only AVI so you can use it in your favorite video editing software, whether it is on Windows, MacOS, or Linux.

Hardware
River Past Talkative is tested to run on any PC with a Pentium III/Celeron CPU of 500 MHz or above. A sound card is required.

It may perform on a PC with lesser spec. However, we will not provide technical support if your PC is below the minimum specification we provided.

Operation Systems
River Past Talkative supports Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

DirectX
River Past Talkative requires DirectX 8.0 or above. We strongly recommend that you always use the latest the latest DX (currently 9.0b) because it provides better stability and performance.

WMF
For WMA output, you must have Windows Media Format runtime 9 installed. We provide it in a separate download package.

OGG filters
For OGG Vorbis output, you must have Tobias' OGG Vorbis DirectShow filters installed.
